Higher Education to Make Gains Towards Being Accessible to All Levels of Ability

While the US Department of Education is often criticized for cutting funds and the allocation of educational dollars based on standardized test scores, the federal government is looking towards creating positive change in higher education for college students with disabilities. They are looking into funding a new center, the National Center for Information and Technical Support for Postsecondary Students With Disabilities, which would "provide technical assistance and information on best and promising practices for students with disabilities as they transition to or attend postsecondary education". Not only would the center assist students directly, but it would also assist families in understanding their rights when preparing to send their children to college. This center could also help enforce non-discrimination on college campuses country-wide.

The importance of higher education cannot be overstated - but did you know that the best outcomes for those with disabilities are often a result of early intervention? At PlayAbility Toys, we are very proud to offer sensory, educational toys that benefit children at all levels of ability.
